Minister’s praise for primary schools

A GOVERNMENT minister is writing to selected primary schools in York and North and East Yorkshire to congratulate them on their examination success.

Schools Minister David Laws has written to a number of primary schools to congratulate them on their test results.

The schools include Rufforth and Naburn CE in York, Water CE, Burton Agnes CE and Rawcliffe in East Yorkshire and Slingsby, Sinnington, Great Ouseburn, Sherburn CE, Monk Fryston CE and St Joseph’s RC, Harrogate in North Yorkshire.

The letters were sent to the schools which gained 100 per cent in three measures; level 4+, the required standard in English and maths; the English progress measure; and the maths progress measure.

Swinemoor Primary School, near Beverley, will also receive a letter for being among 100 schools which have shown most sustained improvement in each year between 2009 and 2012.

Mr Laws said: “I would like to congratulate all staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success and to thank the head for the leadership in continuing the drive towards the highest standards of educational achievement.”
