Slingsby Year 6 SAT Results 2016

It has been well-documented in the press that this year’s Year 6 cohort were going to face the most challenging SAT tests ever.  How did they do?  Read on to find out!

In reading, the national average of pupils who achieved the expected standard was 66%.

100% of our Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard (34% above the national average).

The new SPAG (spelling, grammar & punctuation) test was particularly challenging:

Nationally, 72% of pupils achieved the new expected standard.

87.5 % of our Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard in SPAG (15.5% above the national average).

In mathematics, the national average of pupils who achieved the expected standard was 70%.

100% of our Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard (30% above the national average).

The national average for pupils achieving the expected standard in all subjects tested was 53%.

87.5 % of our Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard in all subjects tested (34.5% above the national average).

The writing of Year 6 pupils remains teacher assessed, not tested:

Nationally, 74% of pupils achieved the expected standard in writing.

87.5% of our Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard (13.5% above the national average).

All the staff in the school are incredibly proud of their achievements.  They worked so very hard to improve- never giving up, and arrived at school ready to learn every day.  We wish them luck at their new schools!
